Your content isn't reaching everyone + that's a good thing.

— a tiny love letter for the future "5 people" who can and will change your business.

I was rewriting my website copy the other day when I stumbled on a word I couldn’t bring myself to use: visibility.

It’s everywhere in the content world: “grow your visibility!” “Post more + reach more people!” “Get more views!”

Literally every time I tried to type the word “visibility,” something in me resisted. It felt off. Not just for me, but for how I see content creation as a whole. I JUST COULDN’T DO IT, AHHH!

So naturally, as the ever-inquisitive artist I am, I had to explore THE DEEPER WHY. (Also, because I really wanted to talk about it with you. ☺️)

Okay, so I really had to think about this. What was irking me so much?!

After chewing on this for a bit, I realized it was because visibility assumes our work is meant to be seen by the most people. And a step further, it makes it feel like the most dreaded feeling of all:

“I’m creating because I have to.”

*Cue Michael Scott saying “NO GOD PLEASE NO” meme*

Nooooo! That’s what kept me stuck all those years when I was being a perfectionist about what I said online. “OMG, what if I change my mind?” “OMG, what if I look weird?” “OMG, I HAVE to be consistent.” “I HAVE to have a ring light + a Sony ZVE10 camera in order to really be a ~YouTuber~.*

That’s the stuff that kills creativity.

Okay, so high-key, was brought back to that uninspiring, a little bit depressing time in my business. So let’s move forward, back to today.

When I reflect on the real moments that have shaped Studio Violet, it was being felt by a few people. Hopping on Zoom calls and people telling me that they liked the vibe. Yay! Slipping into the DMs and digital friends telling me that something hit them. LOVE that! THAT’S what taught me the most about what my dream clients really, really, really want and how I can give it to them on the sweetest platter.

And thinking back to the past, er, 3ish months posting content? I realized that the way I’ve been posting recently has just been… so… fun!

It’s not posting to people, but literally for people. Thinking about those Zoom calls and cute little DMs I get and letting that feed my creativity and making my content as if it’s a direct text message or voice memo back to it.

I have 5ish people in my little sphere who I post for as if I were sending them a voice memo or a DM. Heck, I’m doing that RIGHT NOW as I type this. You might not know who you are, but hey!!! 👋

And oh, I’m not perfect about this btw. Every time I scroll I feel like I’m getting more intubated with “how to make your reels go viral!” and love that for them, there’s a time and a place for it! It’s just not emotionally where I’m at right now, and chances are it’s not where you are, either.

You want intentionality. You know deeper connections wins EVERY time… for business, and just for your heart! You know how to run a business, how to get clients, how to make the connections.

But now you want content that creates a literal world for yourself and your audience so when people ask you what your social platforms are, you can practically jump out of your seat and say OH HERE, I CAN’T WAIT TO SHOW YOU!!!
