Gah, that photo I wish I still had!!! 😭
AND it was in the kind of moment that would’ve made my high school self SQUEAL with joy!
I’d gone to a fitness class hosted by Cassie Ho (yes, Blogilates Cassie!!), and after the class, I GOT TO MEET HER. I was so excited I practically floated to the front of the line.
We took a photo together. I posted it.
And then I deleted it. 😭
Because I didn’t like how I looked. I had just done a full workout, I was sweaty, and I didn’t look “put together” enough.
That photo didn’t fit the version of myself I thought I needed to present.
That little deletion has taught me so much about why so many of us feel stuck when it comes to content creation.
We’re not lazy or bad at social media… we’re literally scared.
Scared of being seen before we’re polished. Scared to say something we might grow out of later. Scared to look a little too human.
(Content) creativity needs wiggle room, “bad hair day” energy, to speak unhinged.
(Content) creativity heals your inner child who was told “there’s only one way to do this!,” “your hair looks unkept,” and “why would you say something like that?”
(Content) creativity says, “Hey Kira, you deleted a memory because adults in your life told you that you need to look perfect. And that’s okay — but this is today. And your dreams require your imperfect self to be fully realized.”
If perfectionism has ever stolen a memory from you too... maybe it’s time to reclaim the story. Post the thing. Let it be messy.
Keep the darn picture. LOVE the darn picture. Live for the darn picture, and all the memories, imperfection, and human-dipped beauty it reminds you of.
(Watch or listen for more! 😌)
